Merger Timeline
First Half of 2025:
We applied for and received NCUA regulatory approval.
September 8th, 2025:
Freedom 1st Federal Credit Union (FFFCU) members voted on the merger on September 8, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Freedom 1st Federal Credit Union. The vote was in favor of the merger with Wichita Federal Credit Union.
October 1, 2025:
The two credit unions legally merged into one credit union: Wichita Federal Credit Union. Previous FFFCU members continue to utilize their digital banking, MAFB phone number, and MAFB branch until the systems conversion in 2026. Members are eligible for a WFCU account, credit card, and loan services for all new accounts and loan requests. Additional information will be provided as we navigate the steps needed for system conversion.
May 2026:
Updated disclosures will be mailed to the address listed on the account. Information about fees, account structure, and interest rates will be included.
June 2026:
New debit cards with activation instructions will be mailed. Please note that June 30th is the last day to use the Freedom 1st debit cards and access the Freedom 1st website, online banking, and mobile app.
July 1, 2026:
On July 1st, members can login to the WFCU Digital Banking platform, download the WichitaFCU app, enroll in eStatements, activate the new debit card, and verify account details in the new system. The final Freedom 1st statement will be mailed in July. Members will need to update routing numbers for electronic payments and contact WFCU staff for new checks with the updated MICR.
